EVENT INFO

Event day

May 11, 2013 at 7:00am

All walkers must check-in at the START before 6.50am. We're open from 6am onwards so we suggest that you get in early to jump the queues, grab a hot chocolate, pose for a team shot and then do some warm-up stretches with your team. Morning announcements start at 6.50am and the gun will crack at 7am sharp!

The course in brief

You will start at Jells Park, Wheelers Hill and head north then west along the beautiful Dandenong Creek Trail. You will walk to the foot of the Dandenong Ranges at which point you will start your climb, heading up toward Mount Dandenong (Skyhigh Restaurant is not far from you here). Then you'll head south and skirt around the mountains on bush trails visiting Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground, climbing the 1000 steps and finally finishing at Ferny Creek Reserve for a well earned break. Phew!

When can I register?

Registrations open on February 1, 2013.

When do registrations close?

Registrations close on May 9, 2013 at 11:30pm.

What is the cost?

You must pay an administration fee to participate in Go the Extra Mile ($55 for adults, $25 for kids and teens [6-18 years old], free to toddlers [under 6 years old]). This funds the operation of the event and pays for things like venues, permits, insurances, medical staff, food, drink, hire of equipment. We strive to keep this cost low by trying to secure sponsors for the event and when you see their names appear on this website, you can expect a few more creature comforts on event day.

Fundraising target

Adult walkers must raise a minimum of $200 fundraising (teens 12-18 raise $50) - all of which will go toward the charity - and all of which is fully tax deductible. You are encouraged to raise as much money as you can and prizes are awarded to the 3 top fundraising individuals. Donations will be accepted until the 30th June.

Need some ideas for fundraising?

We would love to help you achieve your target amounts so call on us for assistance. We have resources like DVDs, brochures, powerpoint shows. We can also come to your school, group, church or workplace and speak about the walk and Focus on the Family's work.
